Type Locality and Naming
In the Aristantau Mountains, Central Kyzylkum. A.K. Bukharin et al., 1982; (460, p.124)
Synonym: Aristantauskaya Suite, Аристантауская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Divided into two sub-suites: Lower (thickness 160m) dolomites with lenses and streaks of black cherts, with layers of limestones and lenses of limestone conglomerates, dolomitic limestones. Upper (thickness 440m) - limestones with layers of dolomites. Total thickness 600m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Lower contact is conformable with Eifelian deposits
Upper contact
Upper - conformable with the Aristantau-Central Fm.
Regional extent
Central Kyzylkum, Aristantau Mountains. Aristantau Fm corresponds in Aristantau to the upper part of the Ayakkuduk Fm and Beshashik Fm; in Muruntau - to the middle and upper parts of the Auliekudzhumdin Fm. (495).
